B.E. Mechanical to MBA in Digital & Telecom Management

It was the early summer of 2018 and I was elated to know that I had secured admission in SIDTM Pune. It is always a pleasure to know that your hard work has paid off and I was excited to start a new journey as a student in SIDTM with prior corporate work experience.

I completed my B. Tech in the field of Mechanical Engineering. After that, I used to work in a start-up focussed on Digital Marketing, where all my activities were based on a self-learning curve. I strongly believe that my decision of pursuing an MBA in Digital and Telecom Management from SIDTM was indeed a fruitful one in my life.

‘Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships’ – Michael Jordan

Being a student, I have been a part of many group activities and a student committee and so, one of the major lessons learned during my journey was to work and achieve the goal as a team! SIDTM is a completely student-driven institute, right from the induction of new batches to the farewell of seniors. I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Branding committee of the college, and that is where I comprehended how teamwork wins you the game. Working in a student committee as well as syndicate groups has helped me realize the value of compassion and togetherness.

To the learnings- SIDTM Style

Classroom learnings are a blessing, but learning outside the classroom is where the real game begins. Being an MBA student, you are expected to keep ourselves updated with the latest technologies and businesses. This is how I started to build and develop my perspective in terms of a business and the technology impacting it.

Group assignments and submission played a major role in developing my personality. Be it a short deadline or a complex project, I started to learn how to manage work along with the team members. Having work experience in the Sales and Marketing field, I selected Marketing and Finance as my specialization wherein the experiential classroom teaching helped me to understand these subjects in depth.

To the memories

I couldn’t have survived these two years without the support of my wonderful friends. The people here belong to the widest of cultures and backgrounds and there is still always something to learn from each one of them. I could never forget those late-night discussions with roommates, not only about academics but also about everything else!

I made friends who have now become an extended family and will remain so. I believe that working in committees, syndicates and college events has helped me to shine with the best of my abilities. As someone has rightly said, confidence can be taught, but it is not something to be taught, it is a result of what you experience.

MBA – The journey is the reward

I am really glad to have been a part of this student curriculum and campus life. It has provided me with experiences and learnings that I will cherish for life. My journey at SIDTM has evolved my thought processes and helped me to become a better version of myself. It’s not about the destination; it’s the journey that counts!
